Orange & BLACK BALL Presented by: Ray Morgan Company

The 19th annual Orange & Black Ball was held on Saturday, August 25th in the Janssen-Lagorio Gymnasium. The Ball is hosted by the Pacific Athletic Foundation and supports the student-athletes of University of the Pacific. Over 600 guests attended to help kick off the 2018-19 season!

This year's title sponsor was the Ray Morgan Company, who has provided imaging technology and services to clients throughout the Western United States since 1956. They specialize in simplifying the complexity and management of office technology solutions for their clients nationwide. They are also a proud partner of University of the Pacific and the athletic department.

In great Tiger tradition, guests arriving for the Ball were welcomed and cheered on by our Pacific student-athletes and Powercat!

The evening began with a cocktail hour giving guests the opportunity to browse silent auction items, mingle with others, visit wine and beer tasting stations, and enjoy hors d'oeuvres catered by Angelinas and served by Pacific student-athletes.

We partnered with Qtego Auction Services giving guests the ability to bid for items via their cell phones and tablets. Guests unable to attend were also able to bid remotely.

Beer and wine tasting stations were available to our guests thanks to our generous partners: Five Window Brewing Company, Jeremy Wine Co., Oak Ridge Winery, and Middleton Family Wines.

The Pacific Cross Country team hosted a Wine Pull station where guests bought the opportunity to pull a wine cork that correlated to a wine bottle worth $20 or more!

This year our Master of Ceremonies was a tag-team effort from Heather Brent and KWIN Radio's, Lucas Grinnell. They opened the program by welcoming guests and thanking our event sponsors.

They then took time to introduce each of Pacific's head coaches.

Next up to the stage was President Pamela Eibeck to give her welcoming remarks and touch on some of Pacific Athletics' latest highlights and accomplishments. She then took a moment to talk about the University Campaign, "What's Your Purpose?", which was followed by a video featuring some of our Pacific student-athletes and head coaches.

President Eibeck then welcomed to the stage University of the Pacific's new Director of Athletics, Janet Lucas. Janet introduced herself to the Tiger community and shared her vision for the athletic department.

She then took a moment to recognize former PAF Board President, Wilson Yu, and thank him for all of his hard work and dedication he showed throughout his two terms that he served as Board President. Director of Athletics Annual Giving, Aaron Morales then presented him with a framed basketball jersey signed by all of Pacific's head coaches.

Chaplain Laura Steed was then invited to the stage to give the night's invocation prior to dinner being served.

After a great dinner served by Angelinas, part 1 of the live auction began. Softball head coach, Brian Kolze and men's and women's swimming head coach, Peter Richardson, served as the live auctioneers for the night.

The first live auction item was a trip to Los Cabos. The winner of this trip was Carol Clague.

The second item was "One Golden Night", which featured 10 luxury suite tickets to the Kings vs Wizards game. This package was donated by Fred Penney & Associates and was purchased by Dean Goold.

The third live item was Canadian Majesty, which included a 3-night vacation and hotel stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The winner of this trip was Chris Lagorio.

Following the third live item, the title sponsor presentation began. Ray Morgan Company's Regional Vice President and Pacific athletics supporter, Andreas Witt, was called up to the stage where he presented a check to Director of Athletics, Janet Lucas.

He then took a moment to explain why Ray Morgan Company chose to sponsor the Orange & Black Ball and the impact they knew it would have on Pacific student-athletes.

Upon conclusion of the title sponsor presentation, the live auction resumed with the remaining 3 items.

The first item included a trip to the 2019 Men's Basketball Final Four in Minneapolis. Given the popularity of this item, this item double-sold to both Andreas Witt and Cindy Ketcherside!

The next item included court side seats to the Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies game. This package was donated by Russell Kagehiro and purchased by JJ Godi.

The final live item was a concert package including four tickets to see the Eagles, Zac Brown Band and The Doobie Brothers at AT&T Park. This package double-sold to both Keith Burgad and Patrick Velasquez!

Five Pacific head coaches were then invited up to the stage to assist in the drawing of the winners for the Grand Prize Raffle sponsored by Ernie Segale and Segale Travel Service.

First up was Men's Soccer head coach, Ryan Jorden, to draw the winner of the Mexican Riviera Cruise. The winner was George Betamora II!

Women's Basketball head coach, Bradley Davis, drew the winner of the Hawaiian vacation, which was Jeff Gilbert!

Field Hockey head coach, Andy Smith, pulled out Duane Isetti as the winner of the Las Vegas Luxor trip!

Finally, Men's Basketball head coach, Damon Stoudamire, pulled the winner of two floor seat season tickets for the 2018-19 men's basketball season. The winner was Dustin Dyer!

We closed out the program with a Fund-a-Need appeal to benefit all Pacific student-athletes at University of the Pacific. This year's Fund-a-Need profits would go to our training room staff to improve on the health of our student-athletes.

With the help of our attendees, we were able to raise over $5,600 towards this state of the art equipment!

Finally it was time to DANCE! DeBorba Events brought the party with great music and the guests filled the LED dance floor and lounge area to close out the night!

The PAF would like to thank everyone who attended and/or participated in the 2018 Orange & Black Ball. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise over $90,000 for Pacific Athletics!

We hope to see you next year on August 24th for the 20TH ANNUAL ORANGE & BLACK BALL!
