Year 6 Colour Run Fundraiser

The Year 6 Colour Run Fundraiser was held at the end of last term and was a HUGE success!!!! Our Year 6 class of 2017 ended up raising $2660!!!! Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the event! A huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the day, especially Kim Lowe for all her time and efforts in organising it all.

The Year 6 students voted earlier in the year on what gift they would give the School, and decided on a media resource section for the library. The idea behind a media resource centre is to have somewhere where all students can go before/during/after school to research/learn/enjoy the internet and digital world. After much consultation they have some very exciting news surrounding how they can make this space a functional and enjoyable asset to the School community. They will be rolling this out over the coming month so watch this space!

Year 7/8 Milo Cricket Gala Day

On Monday the 16th of October the Year 7 & 8 girls high school team participated in the Milo Cricket Gala day. It was held at Loreto Normanhurst, and five schools attended - Loreto Normanhurst, Pymble Ladies College, Mercy Catholic College, Hunters Hill and Wahroonga Adventist.

We played four games, one against Mercy Catholic College, two against Loreto Normanhurst and one against Hunters Hill. All teams were skilled and tough to beat but our team won both games against Loreto, winning two out of four games.

Our team also had the pleasure to meet one of the Sydney Thunders cricket players. She spent time with us and other schools playing a skill game of catching and also a game in batting.

We had a lot of fun, and happy that our team was successful. I think we would all happily participate in the event again and have another chance to take our school team to regionals.

BEYOND OUR SCHOOL YARD - TWO PROJECTS IN LEAD UP TO CHRISTMAS

Library News

You may have noticed the LibraryOPAC link on our new Skoolbag App. This is an exciting new feature which enables you to access the library catalogue and check up on your child’s borrowing records. When you click on the link, you will be taken to our library’s WebOPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) page and will automatically be listed as a guest enabling you to view the public dashboard and to search the catalogue. If you click on the ‘Guest’ icon in the top right hand corner you can then access your child’s borrowing details – the code used for this is usually the first 4 letters of your child’s surname and then the given name initial (ie: SAVAL) although we have noted some discrepancies, so if this doesn’t work email me at library@wahroonga.adventist.edu.au for your child’s code. Once in you will be able to set a PIN if you wish to by clicking on the person icon next to your child’s name. On this page you will be able to check what books you child has out, when they are due, view a history of their loans, and reserve and review books. As well as using the link on the Skoolbag App, you may like to add the website to favourites on your own computer as well to ensure ease of access for your children – the address is: www.accessitsoftware.com.au/SVN01/#!dashboard . Have fun exploring our new LibraryOPAC and please contact Mrs Savage if you have any questions.

Borrowing will finish at the end of Week 5 this term in order to ensure all books are returned before the end of the school year. Please remind your children to bring their library bags each week so they can take advantage of borrowing early in the term, and if all books can be returned promptly by the end of Week 7 it would be much appreciated.
