Ireland is a breathtakingly beautiful place. Nicknamed, The emerald isle, it might be one of the greenest places on earth...
My family and I are staying in the city of Limerick, Ireland visiting my sister on her trip abroad. I've never traveled to another country before, but after being here for just a few days, i'm already in love with Ireland.
Currently, WE ARE WAITING FOR A COACH BUS TO ARRIVE TO TAKE US ON A 2 HOUR JOURNEY...
Fun fact about Limerick in November, the sun doesn't rise until about 8:15 in the morning. Far later than any of the sunrises back in my small town of Brunswick, New York. Frankly i dont wakeup before the sun so I have never seen the sun rise.
Anyway, the bus pulls up and I step in with my family to find our seats. Now my sister had warned us that the coach buses could be a little warm on long travels, so I thought I was prepared.
I wasn't.
I swear this bus was sent from the gates of hell, because I've never been inside such a hot, stuffy, crowded place.
AS WE BEGIN OUR TRIP TO DUBLIN, I FEEL AS THOUGH IM SLIPPING INTO A COMATOSE STATE FROM THE CLOSE HEAT ON THIS BUS. MY DAD GETS UP TO ASK THE DRIVER TO TURN THE HEAT OFF BUT, THERES NOTHING HE CAN DO.
SO WE JOKE ABOUT THE CHATTY BABY THATS BEHIND US BECAUSE SHE'S TOO CUTE and LOUD TO IGNORE
she laughs and laughs as her parents talk to her to keep her preoccupied. We all smile and can't help but laugh along
NEXT TO ME HOWEVER, THE man I HAVE NEVER MET BEGINS TO ROLL WHAT I THINK IS A JOINT. I'M RIDICULOUSLY NAIVE AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND I BEGIN TO WORRY, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ABOUT THIS...
So I try to discreetly get the attention of my parents without tipping this guy off about what I know and my Dad starts laughing at me...
And I'm thinking "what could he POSSIBLY be laughing about now"
My Dad turns to me and goes, "Dev, it's just a cigarette."
At this point, I just sit back in my chair and look back out the window trying not to show my embarrassment...
and the whole time this all has been happening...
my dad says "you gotta take a picture of that, it's just incredible"
So i did
and for the rest of the trip, the hot air, chatty baby, and cigarette man didn't matter...
I SAW MY FIRST SUNRISE, IN A PLACE I'D NEVER BEEN AND I WILL CHERISH THAT FOREVER.
