American Revolutionwhy did the 13 colonies break up with great Britian?
the french & Indian war
Britain had a large debt after this war. The money had to come from somewhere. Britain had to begin to tax colonists and make laws to recoup their money.
Colonists were required by law to house British soldiers and provide them with food, blankets, etc.. The colonists hated this law but nothing could be done about it.
The Boston Tea Party
Sons of Liberty refused to allow imported tea to be unloaded. They snuck aboard ships and dumped the tea into harbor as an act of civil disobedience in the Boston Tea Party; several similar events occurred in other colonial ports. Greatly angered king.
