Life @Parky September 2020

Walking in Surrender...

When we make the decision to cross over the line and trust in Jesus, a number of things happen:

  • We accept and come to the realisation that Jesus is in fact Lord of all. This naturally leads us to believe in His promises and desire to have a relationship with Him.
  • We confess and repent of our sin and choose to walk in new life with Him. It is about us surrendering our will and becoming followers of Jesus. The term that Jesus used to characterise this shift from isolation with God to following Jesus is “a disciple” and carries the idea of someone continuing to grow and trust in Jesus.
  • Understanding His will and being able to Hear His voice, we become people of God's Kingdom and live in step with His will, plan and purpose for us.

Jesus reminded his followers of this and instructed them to prayer regularly,

When you pray, . . . . Your kingdom come, your will be done.

Making a commitment to follow Jesus was never meant to be just a get out of jail card, but rather a transformational moment where we have our sins forgiven and enter into a relationship with Him. Where we follow and obey His will for our lives.

Sadly though, with the pressures of life and passing of time, our sinful nature causes us to take back control of the steering wheel of our life, we forget to seek God's Kingdom and forget to surrender to Him.

Why not find a quiet space right now and talk to the Father - surrendering to Him, seeking His will - and move forward seeking His kingdom come, and will done in our lives.

Craig Lydon, Senior Pastor

Did you know?

Parky is again hosting the Scripture Union 'Kids in the Kitchen' cooking camp in the first week of the October school holidays.

The camp is now fully booked for participants, however there are still positions for volunteers to help in the kitchen and also with the morning set-up. Contact Rowan du Boulay on 0423 865 972 if you think this is a space that you can help with.

The camp team are excited to be bringing kids from all walks of life to a place where they can have fun, fellowship and good food - they would also value your prayers! Pray for young hearts to be open to hearing the message of the good news of Jesus, for friendships to be formed and for a safe environment for all involved.

Access to the church during this week (Monday, 28 September to Friday 2 October) will be restricted and any visitors will need to check in first with Sally Howe or Rowan du Boulay. There will be signage on the premises with directions during this period, otherwise contact the office for more information.

Mission News

Update from the Falconers...

These last months of uncertainty have been a season of increased prayer and seeking God for us. He continues to work out His plans and we continue to trust Him in all things.

In late May Bek lost the majority of sight in her right eye. She was able to travel to the capital to see a specialist and receive treatment which has provided some improvement. Please pray for continued healing.

We have had opportunities to connect and to pray for healing for a couple who decided to follow Jesus over a year ago. On one recent occasion Juma was crippled pain which eased immediately after praying enough to get to hospital and receive medical assistance. This has increased their faith and desire to meet regularly to read God’s word with others. Please pray for Juma’s wife Tina who is pregnant and (as with previous pregnancies), anxious and suffering great pain.

Scott has been able to meet weekly on Thursdays with 5 men reading and engaging with the Word of God. Please pray for God to speak to them through that and they will be able to share with others.

Please also pray for peace for the region in Mozambique that COVID cases won’t increase and people will experience peace.

We give thanks for the good health of twins (Nema and Kaibra) who were born prematurely. Also thanks for the good health and opportunities our family has experienced.

Thanks for your partnership and support.

From Scott, Bek, Levi, Josiah, Katelyn, Elliana, and Isaac

Update from Mundaring SUPA Club...

Dear Supporting Churches,

Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Due to the Corona Virus we are still not able to return to the school. The school is limiting the people coming in to protect the staff. We have continued sending “Thinking of You” letters to the kids.

When I heard this news from the principal in July about the Supa club not able to return to school for the rest of the year I was wondering where to go from here. Questions that came to mind were: is this the time to stop leading SUPA CLUB? (I’ve been doing it for many years – since 1998), do the kids like the letters, read them, do the craft??

Then, shortly after the phone call to the principal, on same afternoon, I saw a boy from the Supa Club with his families. (In all that time I hadn’t seen anyone connected with Supa Club) When I introduced myself to the families, the mother and grandmother thanked me for sending out the post as their son really enjoyed getting it. The grandmother said she read the stories with her grandson and helped with the craft. The boy acknowledged and enjoys getting the post.

What a confirmation from the Lord! So it looks we just keep doing this - sending mail for the rest of the year. We’ll leave the results to God.

Some prayer points are:

  • Pray that the kids will enjoy getting the mail, reading it, doing the activities and growing in understanding of God’s love for them
  • Thank God for providing us with ideas to send out each time.
  • Please pray for the S.U.P.A. Club children and their families.
  • Pray too for the Mundaring Primary School, staff, other children and families.
  • Please pray we as leaders trust God for His guidance for the coming year.

Greetings, Robyn Lawrence, and Josephine van Voorthuizen
