Jordan Scheftz Welcome to my EPortfoilio

Hello, I'm Jordan Scheftz

From an early age, there was one thing in my life that was a constant. My love for baseball was unparalleled to anything i had ever laid my eyes on. I was fortunate enough to find the one thing i wanted to have in my life in one way or another and that was baseball. Whether it is coaching, playing or working in a sports agency, i knew baseball was always going to be a staple. As the years went on, i started to realize that i was getting pretty good at the whole baseball thing and i could possibly make a career out of it in the forms of college baseball or if i am talented and lucky enough to even play professional baseball. This lead me here to the University of Central Florida where i am on track to graduate in 2018 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Objectives and Education

My main goal is to become a professional baseball players, however purely based off the numbers, my chances of making a major league roster are really low. If becoming a professional baseball player ends up not being my job, i am planning on becoming a sports agent where i will able to take care of all of my clients needs and wants with the help of my three areas of study. With my areas consisting of Commerce(business), Communications, and Sports Business Management. The one thing that i think seperates my areas of study is my Sports Business Management minor. Taking classes on how sports agency's operate and getting knoledge on the profession will give me a good understanding of how the sports management world is run. Commerce will also give me the information i need to run a business and or be involved in how a business goes about its day to day operations. Along with those two areas of study, communications will allow me understand how people interact with one another and could give me insight on what makes people tick and could give me an advantage in a business meeting.

Experience and Volunteer work

Through my years of playing baseball, i have also found out that i have a great ability to work with kids. With my knowledge of the game i was able to give back to my community in the form of giving hitting, pitching, and fielding lessons to kids ages 8-15. For example, in high school i was the president of the Best Buddies club with an emphasis on sports. Being the president, i would help set up games between the high schools in the area for the special needs children. I found that sports is a great way to get people involved in the Best Buddies program. Before i was the president of the Best Buddies club, i was a coach for a travel ball team in my city. Not only was i just the coach to these young kids, but i also acted as a mentor in the sense i would make sure they were turning into respectable men and were excelling not only on the field, but also in the classroom. Having the ability to teach young children is a something i love to do and the higher i go in baseball the more knowledge i will get which will allow me to spread the wealth among the community and make young children better baseball players and better people.

Hobbies and Interests

Besides playing baseball, i love to watch college basketball and college football. My other interests consist of playing golf, playing basketball, surfing, playing spike ball, hanging out with friends, snowboarding or anything outdoors. I hope to one day teach my children and experience all of these things with my future wife and family.

I believe that if you work hard enough and you believe in yourself regardless of what the outcome is, you will find yourself to do things that even you did not think were possible
