Benton Street Improvement Association

The Benton Street Improvement Association is a grass-roots campaign to promote tolerance and inclusion, one yard sign at a time.

Signs are here!

We have had a tremendous response for our signs from the community. We are happy to report that our second shipment of signs has just arrived, including two new signs with quotes from Harvey Milk and Margaret Mead. We now have seven different signs to choose from.

Seven different, waterproof signs with stands which measure 18 x 24".

How do I get a sign?

On weekday evenings from 5 pm to 7 pm, we will be selling signs for $10 each at 519 Benton Street. Because we are a small operation, we ask that you bring cash. All profits from the sale of the signs will be donated to FISH, a local food pantry. We will be selling signs in this way until Friday, September 22.

Once you have your sign

Once you have your sign up, please post a picture of it on our FaceBook page. You can also tag us @BentonStreetImprovementAssociation on Instagram or Twitter. By sharing your sign or a link to our page, you will help us spread this project to your friends and neighbors. Below are some signs which are already up. If you'd like to see how this project unfolds and get updates, follow our page on FaceBook.

Our signs posted in Santa Rosa, California and beyond.

Thanks to Chris Smith for his write up of our project in The Press Democrat.

And thanks to Lisa Fernandez at KTVU News in Oakland for her article.
