WHAT IS WIZARDS?
Famous for their bi-weekly general meetings, the board members (fondly referred to as the high/ultra wizards) plan out club activities in advance, ranging from movies, anime, games and more. Club President Daniel M. claims the best part of attending these meetings is "getting to meet people you would never meet in a classroom, especially with COVID, that have very similar interests to you."
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN?
Unlike other clubs at CGSH, Wizards' goal is to create a fun afterschool environment for anyone into "nerd" culture. Hanging out with likeminded people and making new friends has always been Wizards' focus.
According to club sponsor Mr. De Armas, "The Wizards club is the club to rule them all" for three reasons:
- Many clubs lack authenticity because people join them to pad their resume.
- Wizards don’t believe in fees.
- We have genuinely improved the mental health for many Cavaliers. Our mages sought an outlet of likeminded individuals who fancy “nerd” culture, and boy did they find it.
WHAT THE WIZARDS HAVE TO SAY
"I think Wizards is the best club because we don't really follow the norms of school clubs, we are different in many ways and we embrace that." (Club President Daniel M.)
"I think we're the best club because of all the different types of kids that show up, honestly. Plus once you start coming often you start learning everyone's name and likes/dislikes and it all starts feeling like a little family in a way." (Club Vice President Katherine B.)
"It holds no boundaries as to what or who you may find. The interactive zone allows for anyone ranging from music, game development, shows and many more to come together and create a safe, judgement free zone for all students. Everyone is welcome for free." (Club Founder Kim C.)
