Half Marathon

Come run your next half marathon with us in the heart of Missouri's Ozarks. You'll love our interesting and mildly challenging course that's staffed with some of the nicest volunteers you'll meet. Be a part of one of the most well ran races of its size in the Midwest. This race will warm your heart.

Date: February 13, 2021
Location: All races start and finish at Southern Hills Shopping Center, West Plains, MO (1400 Southern Hills Center, West Plains, MO)

Course: The 13.1 mile Course is a two loop style course. There is a short inner loop and a second larger outer loop. All runners stay together until the intersection of Washington Ave. and Broadway (3.8 miles). At this point the 10k splits off. The races rejoin at the "Court House Square", and split apart again at Summit St (From 5 to about 5.25 miles). (Don't worry Half Marathoners get their chance to climb Summit on the second loop!) The half marathoners continue on to a second outer loop before finishing on the same course as the 10K. There are few hills (4 to be exact) on this course, so be ready. The remainder is either pancake flat or downhill, so you're good. You'll love it.

Although there are a few steep hills (2 big & 2 smaller) on this course, runners consistently run PRs here. It has some very long downhills followed by nice flat sections where you can make up time well.

Course Support: The course will be very well marked with arrows and signs. There are always plenty of volunteers to keep you on track & up to the challenge. Aid stations with portable toilets are located strategically every 1.5-2.5 miles on the course.

13.1 Relay

Not up for 10k or a full half but want to participate? Gather up three of your friends and come run!

Our half marathon relay is different than most. Instead of dividing it up equally ours is a "distance medley." The 13.1 miles will be divided into 4 different distances (all are approximate.) They are: 4k, 5k, 8k, and 4k. This offers a distance for everyone.

Gather your team. Go train and take home the bragging rights.

The first team to finish will win an award.

Officer David Finley Trophy: This is a special award given to the first relay team composed of uniformed officers (police, armed forces, fire fighter, etc.) to finish the half marathon.

Sign up today. Entry fee is just $150 per team. All team members get a race shirt. After January 24, 2021 the entry fee goes up to $180 per team. Register online at www.iamathlete.com or download a registration form and send it in.

Relay Procedures

All relay team members will be issued and expected to wear their race number. This is how your team will get their final time and placing.

The relay leg distances are as follows: 4k, 5k, 8k, and 4k. All distances are approximate and will proceed in that order.

To keep us all "honest" there will be an armband given to each team. This armband will be passed from team-mate to team-mate. The officials at the finish line will need to see the armband at the completion of the race. Exchange zones are located near city owned parking lots where it will be easy to get off the street. Please be mindful of other runners. Don't interfere with those around you by simply stepping out of the way as you make your exchange!

No transportation is provided to any exchange zone. You must coordinate your own transportation. Plenty of parking is available near all exchange zones. Please use parking lots when possible. Please be aware that the exchanges are in the middle of the race loops. Please do not drive in a way that is dangerous to other racers!

Exchange zone locations: 1) N. Minnesota and W. Cass Ave 2) West Plains Armory parking lot located near Webster Ave & Hazel St and 3) The West Plains Civic Center "west circle drive" at the corner of St. Louis St & E. Main St.

Finally: Have FUN!!!!!
