Heart of the Ozarks Half marathon, 10k, 13.1 relay, and (Mindy's Run) 2.5 mile

7:30 a.m. February 15, 2025-The Historic Post Office, 204 East Main Street -West Plains, MO

Come run with us in the friendly, beautiful town of West Plains, Mo. You'll be so glad that you did.

We’ve got everything that you want in a race. We have a distance for everyone. A half marathon, 10k, or "Mindy's Run" (a special 2.5 mile memorial run that benefits a local child with cancer.)

You’ll love the courses (challenge of a few hills included). Where’s the glory in running yet another boring “flat and fast” course? Challenge yourself and conquer the hills of West Plains. However remember we have about two miles of downhill slope in the first 4 miles. So you’re likely to run faster than you ever have. Plus, we have amazing course support, beautiful bling, and superb post race food. You’re gonna love this race...

We were so impressed with the race support. Thank you for all the hard work, guys. We had a blast!" -- R.O. Jonesborro, AR

Don’t just run another race. Do something special.

"So glad I chose to do this race! It was my first half marathon and I loved it.....”C.R. - Arkansas

Half Marathon

Come run your next half marathon with us in the heart of Missouri's Ozarks. You'll love our interesting and mildly challenging course that's staffed with some of the nicest volunteers you'll meet. Be a part of one of the most well ran races of its size in the Midwest. This race will warm your heart.

Date: February 15, 2025
Location: All races start and finish at The Historic Post Office Event Center, West Plains, MO (204 E. Main Street, West Plains, MO)

Course: The 13.1 mile Course is a two loop style course. There is a short inner loop (6 miles) and a second larger outer loop. All runners stay together until the intersection of Washington Ave. and Broadway. At this point the 10k heads straight toward the finish off of "Court Square". The 13.1 mile turns left onto Broadway and repeats a portion of the first loop. Half marathoners will pass by the start/finish area on Main Street and start their second larger loop towards the finish.

There are two noticable hills on this course (Summit Hill - pretty steep and long at 3 miles and another long, but less steep hill at about 8 miles). The rest of the course is a mix of pretty flat, downhill and some smaller rolling hills. It's a great course, you'll love it.

Although there are a few steep hills (2 big & 2 smaller) on this course, runners consistently run PRs here. It has some very long downhills followed by nice flat sections where you can make up time well.

Course Support: The course will be very well marked with arrows and signs. There are always plenty of volunteers to keep you on track & up to the challenge. Aid stations with portable toilets are located strategically every 1.5-2.5 miles on the course.

13.1 Relay

Not up for 10k or a full half but want to participate? Gather up three of your friends and come run our 13.1 relay!

Our half marathon relay is different than most. Instead of dividing it up equally, ours is a "distance medley." The 13.1 miles will be divided into 4 different distances (all are approximate.) They are: 4k, 5k, 8k, and 4k. This offers a distance for everyone.

Gather your team. Go train and take home the bragging rights.

The first team composed of public servants to finish will win our "Dave Finley" award. This award honors an early supporter of our race. Sgt Finley was an officer in the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He passed away in an endurance event, and we created this award in his honor.

Sign up today. Entry fee is just $160 per team. All team members get a race shirt. After January 27, 2024 the entry fee goes up to $200 per team.

Relay Procedures

All relay team members will be issued and expected to wear their race number. This is how your team will get their final time and placing.

The relay leg distances are as follows: 4k, 5k, 8k, and 4k. All distances are approximate and will proceed in that order.

Exchange zones are located near city owned parking lots where it will be easy to get off the street. Please be mindful of other runners. Don't interfere with those around you by simply stepping out of the way as you make your exchange!

No transportation is provided to any exchange zone. You must coordinate your own transportation. Plenty of parking is available near all exchange zones. Please use parking lots when possible. Please be aware that the exchanges are in the middle of the race loops. Please do not drive in a way that is dangerous to other racers!

Exchange zone locations: 1) Near Historic Post Office 2) Gravel parking lot near intersection of Missouri Avenue and First Street and 3) West Plains Armory parking lot located near Webster Ave & Hazel St.

Finally: Have FUN!!!!!

Mindy’s Run (2.5 miles)
