In Italy a Comprehensive School has three School levels: Nursery School or Infant School (3-6 years); Primary School (6-10 years) and Secondary Middle School (11-13 years).

The name “Vanvitelli” dates back to the time when our Institute was only a Secondary Middle School.

In fact, at the beginning, the School was dedicated to Giuseppe Ungaretti, a famous Italian poet of the last century.

Our School was born after 1962 as Unified Middle School.

It had only one central site at Casolla; Centurano was the branch site located in “Pierantoni Villa”.

Then other seats were joined in different areas of Caserta. In 1980s a new central site was built at Casolla and finally, in 2000 a new seat was built in “Parco Degli Aranci”.

In 2001, thanks to the efforts of the then rector Luigi Bologna, the Institute was dedicated to Luigi Vanvitelli.

In 2005 the principal Bologna is retired and takes his place the current leadership, the dr. Rosaria Prisco.

In 2011 our school "Vanvitelli" was joined to "Ruggiero Comprehensive School" and became "Ruggiero- Vanvitelli" Comprehensive School. Alfonso Ruggiero was a Member of Italian Parliament and Headmaster of "P. Giannone Secondary School" in Caserta

In 2014 the middle school "Ruggiero" passed to the Third Circle and since then our institute has been entitled only to Luigi Vanvitelli.
