CMP WHAT MEMBERSHIP MEANS

CMP members believe in the power of media to change the world.

And they're willing to put their money and resources behind it.

In exchange, they become part of an engaged community of film lovers and philanthropists who pool their support through CMP's signature:

COMMUNITY MODEL OF PHILANTHROPY

HOW DOES MEMBERSHIP WORK?

CMP is Member-Driven: all content is funded solely through member donations.

Members choose to donate to CMP at different levels depending on interest and engagement: Changemaker, Filmanthropist, Film Advocate, Industry Partner and Associate levels.

Regardless of donation level, all CMP members are active participants in the support of great storytelling.

HOW ARE MEMBERSHIP DONATIONS UTILIZED BY CMP?

Approx. 1/3rd of member donations provide grants to filmmakers, which cover costs of attendance at our signature Big Table Dinners, CMP Pitch events, and private screenings where CMP members engage with film teams in discussions of storytelling and strategies for impact.

Half of all member donations support the content we curate for members, such as our Big Table Dinners, DOC10, Dinner n Docs and Partners in Advocacy screenings.

CMP's IMPACT GRANT FUND

CMP has developed a separate IMPACT GRANT FUND which provides larger grant support to filmmakers in early stage production, to support filmmaker sustainability, and to fund innovative outreach campaigns.

OUR FIRST GRANTS WERE AWARDED AT DOC10 IN APRIL 2017

CMP-SUPPORTED FILMS GET SEEN:

In 3+ years we've supported over 20 documentary films and media projects, many of which have premiered at prestigious festivals: Sundance, Tribeca, HotDocs, DocNYC, and screened on Netflix, Amazon, CNN, POV and theatrically worldwide.

AND HAVE REAL IMPACT:

CMP-funded films have been used to train liaisons for homeless teens in Chicago Public Schools [THE HOMESTRETCH by Anne De Mare & Kirsten Kelly]

as organizing tools for the Black Lives Matter movement [WHOSE STREETS by Sabaah Folayan & Damon Davis],

and to raise awareness of the issue of moral injury in veterans [ALMOST SUNRISE by Michael Collins & Marty Syjuco], among many others.

Currently we have funded projects that focus on:
  • Poverty in Appalachia
  • The Disability Rights Movement
  • Race in America
  • Campaign Finance Reform
  • Veterans Issues
  • Environmental Issues
  • Homelessness
  • Art as a tool for transformation
  • Land rights in Papua New Guinea
  • many others
