BASD Launches New Tip Line - Safe2Say Something
Pennsylvania recently implemented a statewide, 24/7, tip line for reporting school-related threats. This new tip line is called Safe2Say Something and is focused on providing middle school and high school students across our state a tool for anonymously reporting threats. Any tips reported to Safe2Say Something involving our district will be shared with our school safety team and local law enforcement for immediate action. Over the next week, all middle school and high school students will receive information at school about the Safe2Say Something program including information on how to text, call or email to report a concern. Details regarding Safe2Say Something are posted on the district's website as parents and community members statewide can also download the app and report threats. Please review the website for these details. Together, we will continue to work to keep our students safe. Thank you.

Healthy Tips from Michelle Martucci, RD, LDN
Dietitian for Bethlehem Area School District
The ABC Tips - O:
The soluble fiber found in the oats of oatmeal is known to help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The soluble fiber will also help to keep you fuller longer. Oatmeal is versatile, try adding fruits, nuts, or cinnamon for some different flavor combinations. Try making overnight oats for an easy grab n’ go breakfast option.
Oranges contain over 100% of the daily recommendation for vitamin C. The high amount of vitamin C helps to boost your immune system and prevent cancer, stroke, and diabetes. Oranges are also a good source of the B vitamins, calcium, and potassium, which helps with brain development, maintaining electrolyte balance, and maintaining healthy teeth and bones. Try adding orange segments to your salad or adding a whole orange including the peel into your smoothie. The peel of the orange is edible and contains fiber, which will help you feel full longer.

Cops 'n' Kids Events
2019 Cops ’n’ Kids 13th Annual
Celebration of Reading . . . and the Arts and Sciences
April 27, 2019 — 11 am until 3 pm
We have started planning for our 13th annual Cops ’n’ Kids Celebration of Reading . . . and the Arts and Sciences, and we have a great deal to celebrate!
With the help of our entire community, the award-winning Cops ‘n’ Kids Children’s Literacy Program has reached a remarkable milestone, distributing more than 940,000 free books thus far.
This will be our "March to the Millionth" event!
To celebrate this accomplishment, and the children of our community, we invite you to join us (rain or shine) for a day of food, fun, family, crafts, entertainment, laughter—and, of course, literacy.
If you are interested in having your students perform, please contact Tammy Giampapa at tgiampapa@basdschools.org for more information.
Please mark your calendars—and thank you for helping us to “connect kids and community through literacy.”
