Passport to Success

The Leadership Summit is the nation's first comprehensive model that provides local law enforcement as caring adult mentors, for local urban youth age 13-18 in Baltimore City. We empower our young people to break the cycle of generational poverty, transcend their limited perspective and develop into morally grounded, academically accomplished leaders of tomorrow.

The vision of Chief Melvin Russell commander of the Community Partnership Division, Baltimore City Police Dept.

The Summit is based on the foundational principles of connecting our youth to a higher purpose, a caring adult, a positive peer group, quality education and compressive training as a medium to help our youth become academically accomplished, morally grounded leaders in their families, schools and communities.

States Attorney Marilyn Mosby spends some time with our youth during the Park Heights CDC Ball.
For the first two years, we offer a structured program of workshops, intensive training, events and team-building activities that help cultivate that relationship.

Together they complete special projects, volunteer, attend our annual Passport to Success Leadership Summit, and participate in fun and safe activities such our high impact workshops.

Developed in response to the daily challenges faced by 61% of our youth who live in low-income households with 35% living below the poverty line, where education is inferior and they are surrounded by an environment that seeks to exclude their culture and stifle their vast potential, along with the rising national crisis between minority youth/police relations

Passport to Success Leadership Summit for urban youth meet these challenges head-on through our high levels of social cohesion and intensive leadership training.

Mentors commit to meeting with their mentees at least twice a month.

During the school year our supportive mentors continues to engage and enlighten our youth. Participants have the opportunity to attend Leadership Hill, our adventure-based, leadership development experience, as well as Counselors in Training, which prepares a select group of youth for cpr/first aid training and certification while also developing them into mature and responsible leaders.

The Summit staff and mentors work together to focus mentees on discovering and revealing the great potential God has instilled them with; building upon positive character traits; and becoming role models in their own right in their families, schools and communities.
