ls/us week 37

THINGS TO CELEBRATE

You guys have done a fantastic job modelling and setting a great example by using your caps during recess. I am proud of you and very thankful!

Please starting on Monday kids will need to come down to every recess wearing their caps.

Also they should have their water bottles and caps marked with their names. If they haven´t marked them yet, please help them do it in class.

Don´t forget to remind them after recess to bring back to class their caps and water bottles.

Also caps must stay in school all week. You return them back home on Friday. Water bottles go back and forth everyday.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

An email was sent to parents last week letting them know that we will end our extracurricular activities on Monday Jan 30th and Tuesday Jan 31st. Please have in mind those two dates. That week it will also be the last week of extra help and then Second Quimester exams start.

SECOND QUIMESTER EXAMS

On the link below you will find all the information regarding semester exams: schedules, procedures, folders. etc. We have already been through this process this year. We will follow similar procedures like last semester. Below a quick guide to them:

1. Exams will be taken in a three period week

2. Some of our exams will be our common assessments like last quimester.

3. We will also have more formal paper based exams. For those, please:

GUIDELINES

• Provide a Study Guide with sample questions for students to practice

• Allow time in class for students to practice similar exercises

• Provide a grading rubric.

• All exams from 1st-3rd grade will be out of /25

• All exams from 4th to 7th grade will be out a /100

• ALL STUDY GUIDES SHOULD BE UPLOADED ON THE FOLLOWING SITE ON MONDAY, JANUARY 30TH.

On TUESDAY JANUARY 31ST, each core teacher will email families a schedule which will only include the subjects that may require the student to study at home in preparation for the exam. The exam schedule that can be found on your level folders on the following link:

VERY IMPORTANT: If a parent requests that exams should be taken in advance, please direct them to the office. Andrea will make them fill out a request and send it to me.

First and Second Grade

In these grade levels, particularly according to the age and the stage of development these students are at, it is not necessary (nor advisable) that the students formally study for these evaluations.

Students in these grade levels will not receive a schedule of exams as there is no real need for them to study at home in preparation for the evaluations.

Third to Seventh Grade

In these grade levels the evaluation process will be more formal. As in other grades, students will have time to review in their classrooms.

Additionally, teachers will provide an overview of the topics that can be reviewed at home, as well as the accompanying resources (e.g. notebooks, worksheets, etc.). It may be important for some students to utilize these tools independently and practice at home before the exam dates.

LAST BUT NO LESS IMPORTANT

Last week we have been reviewing the process for taking care of our IPADS and LAPTOPS and the best procedures that will ensure they are complete, charged and assigned to each student.

Please, follow the procedure. Each time you have and IPAD or LAPTOP, make sure you count the to verify they are complete. If the are missing ones, send and email Eliana copying me INMEDIATELY.

IT IS ALSO VITAL that you give each student their corresponding device that he/she has been assigned to.

On the link below you can find which device has been assigned to each student by number.

BY MAKING SURE EACH STUDENT GETS HIS/HER CORRECT DEVICE, WE CAN HAVE A BETTER CONTROL OF THEM AND WE CAN CORRECT ANY MISUSE ISSUE FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENTLY.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COOPERATION ENFORCING THIS

MONDAY JAN, 16TH: All students must have their water bottles and caps marked. All students and teachers go to recess wearing their caps :)
