Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami December 26, 2004

The Indian Ocean tsunami and earthquake was the worst disaster that happened in the first decade of the 2000's. Natural disaster has been recorded on a seismograph as

The third largest earthquake ever recorded. It caused the entire planet to vibrate as much as 1 centimeter.

The undersea earthquake was captured with a magnitude of 9.3. It struck off the coast of Sumatra. Over the next 7 hour a series of enormous waves swept away houses and lives one by one

Between 230,000 and 2,800 people were killed. Most of which were kids.

Many countries were not affected not only Indonesia but India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand were barely hanging at the end of the Tsunami and earthquake. Food shortages increased as well as environmental damage.

Locations that were affected by the disaster

The death toll in Indonesia alone exceeded 220,000. Tens of thousands were of people were reported dead in Sri Lanka. More than a 100 causualties were reported in India. The amount of deaths and amount of damages to multiple countries makes this disaster the worst of the 2000's
