Central Nervous system Carson Reeder

The central nervous system contains the brain and spinal cord.
Why is the brain part of the central nervous system?
Well the brain is a part of the nervous system because the brain makes the muscles move by sending tiny electrical signals to them through your nerves.
Why is the spinal cord part of the nervous system?
The spinal cord is a part of the nervous system because the spinal cord consists of nerves that carry incoming and outgoing messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
You're probably wondering what the central nervous system actually does, so I'll tell you.
The central nervous system is the complex of nerve tissues that controls the activities of the body. In vertebrates it comprises the brain and the spinal cord.
What are the more complicated parts of the central nervous system?
There is the brain of course, there is also the cerebrum which is the largest part of the brain, it controls our ability to memorize, think, and learn.
Another part of the brain is the cerebellum which controls and coordinates muscle activity.
The last part of the brain is the brain stem which controls the functions of the internal organs.
Then there is a cell that is the structural and functional unit of the nervous cell.
Then there is a cell body which is a main body of the neuron. Then there is an axon which is an elongated fiber that carries impulses away from the cell body to the dendrites of another neuron.
Dendrites are branching fibers that receive impulses and carry them to the cell body.
Then we have sensory neurons which carry impulses from the sense organs to the spinal cord and brain. Then there are motor neurons which carry responding impulses to muscles and glands from the brain to the spinal cord.
And lastly, we all have a reflex action which is an involuntary action in which a message is sent to the spinal cord, is interpreted, and is responded to immediately.
Almost everyone gets 6 out of 10 right on this quiz, would you like to give it a try?
