ON | Youth Conference on Global Citizenship

On August 11th, approximately 130 GCCS Advanced Placement seniors attended the Youth Conference on Global Citizenship at Indiana University Southeast. The event focused on globalization and international business, as well as human rights and included speakers from Cummins Engines, UPS, Zoeller International, Clariant Chemical and entrepreneur Bill Heinz who founded the non-profit Amazing Global Marketplace. The event was coordinated by New Washington Middle/High School teacher Dr. Tim McDonald and sponsors included UPS, the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, New Washington State Bank, and Clark County (IN) Sheriff Jamey Noel.

District Named Economic Development Partner of the Year by One Southern Indiana

Greater Clark County Schools is excited to announce that we were named Economic Development Partner of the Year by One Southern Indiana at their 10th Anniversary Annual Meeting on August 16th. One Southern Indiana (1si) is the Lead Economic Development Organization and Chamber of Commerce for Clark and Floyd Counties. 1si proactively works to grow our regional economy through business attraction, retention and expansion; through encouraging and supporting workforce development, workforce advocacy, networking opportunities and more. 1si is also key component of the district's implementation of Ford Next Generation Learning. Bus Safety Video Coming Soon

A special thanks to Jonathan Jennings Elementary and GCCS bus driver Teresa Wimsatt for working with district to film a new bus safety video. Most of our students begin and end their day with a trip on a school bus and their safety is of the utmost importance. Be on the lookout soon for our video!

Board of School Trustees Meeting

The next GCCS Board of School Trustees meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the district's Administration Building, located at 2112 Utica-Sellersburg Road in Jeffersonville.

GCCS Now Hiring Bus Drivers and Monitors

Do you know an individual that is a safe driver, responsible, attentive, efficient, plus is concerned for the safety and well-being of community's students? Greater Clark County Schools is currently hiring bus drivers and bus monitors. The district will provide training for these positions. Bus drivers compensation is $69.90 for a 5-hour workday and they're also eligible for the district's full benefits package. Bus monitors compensation is $42.52 per day. All interested parties may contact the GCCS Transportation Department at (812) 288-4809.
