Amity Middle School Mid May 2020

Parent Information

Packet pick up will be on Wednesday's from 12pm-5:30pm for the remainder of the school year.

Message from Principal Reg McShane

I am very concerned that we have students that have turned in little or no work. Our fourth quarter grades will be pass or incomplete. Come fall, we will be requiring students that ended fourth quarter with incomplete to attend Friday School. We are looking at bus routes to help with transportation. We want to provide opportunities for your children to fill those education content gaps.

Attendance- Parents, your child still needs to check in with their teachers during this time. Please make your child is emailing, joining a Google meet or talking with them via phone call.

Art Contest: AHS Leadership we'll be doing the art contest at least through the rest of the month. There will be a different theme announced each Monday. Follow the Amity High School Activities Facebook page for updates.

Mr. Larson has gathered some resources for the parents during this time. You can view them on our website under the Distance Learning Information tab. He has also created a Facebook page. Please join for helpful tips. This is available for all ages.

From the library to students and parents:

I deliver. Stay well. - Ms. Moorefield, Librarian

These lunches do not cost and are available to only Amity School District school aged students (K-12).

Freshmen Class Elections: We are postponing ASB and class elections at the high school until a time when we can hold them equitably for all candidates and voters (sometime in the fall). We will be emailing Leadership applications to the entire class for anyone who wants to be considered for the Leadership class. Students who apply will be review by staff for eligibility this summer.

8th grade students (and their parents) will also be getting information over the summer about high school orientation. They need to check their school email on a regular basis.

Incoming Freshmen Summer Basketball: At this time, we can not access the gyms. We should have more information around the end of June, with the possibility of having summer basketball. Please look for updates on our High School Athletics and School District Facebook pages.

8th Grade Cheer Information: It is time to begin preparing for next year's cheer season. We cannot hold traditional tryouts at this time because of social distancing requirements. However, Coach Angela needs to know who is interested in joining the team. If you are interested in joining or just want more information about our team, please contact Coach Angela (contact information below). Hopefully we will have more information soon about what we will be allowed to do, but until then we will communicate via email. Parents and students are welcome to email with any questions you have. If you are interested in being a part of next year's Warrior Cheer Team, please email Coach Angela at amity.cheercoach@gmail.com.

Please note that with the extended closure of schools, we are looking at what we can do for our 8th grade promotion. We will keep you posted as we know this is an important event for our families, students and staff.
