Rostock

On our second day in Warnemünde the scheduled tours resumed, most of the passengers (about 600) were doing the various Berlin tours so they had a special train to take them to Berlin. We opted for a local tour of nearby Rostock, since we plan to visit Berlin next Spring. Rostock is an interesting city, most of it was destroyed during WW2 and then it was under the Soviet East Germany until the wall came down. Many of the old buildings in the town center were restored after the war and retain the old world charm. Adjacent to the market square is the beautiful St. Mary's Church with a massive pipe organ and the 15th century astronomical clock.
