Meet Rejan Rana YPICA LEE LIM MING COLLEGE'S ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

On 6th March 2019, during the Prize Presentation Ceremony, Rejan Rana (F.4B) received the award for Athlete of the Year. This recognition finally landed on his arms after years of hard work and training in his sport. We talked to him about what it takes to be the Athlete of the Year.

Although this is my first award as Athlete of the Year, I have been competitively running for almost seven years, since I was in primary school. The teachers in my primary school thought I was fast , so they enrolled me into the inter-school athletics competition. And I’ve just enjoyed running ever since.
I'M A VERY COMPETITIVE PERSON AND I DON'T LIKE LOSING. SO, THAT ALREADY MOTIVATES ME AS I DON'T LIKE LOSING. BUT NORMALLY, I WANT TO WIN IN EVERY SPORTS I PLAY.
I look up to Cristiano Ronaldo , as he’s literally the epitome of hard work for me personally. I admire a lot of athletes , Usain Bolt , Alex Morgan and many more. All of us have different athletes we admire , and these are some of mine.
"I want to win the championship for the school in every sports team I'm in. It will not be easy but it's definitely achievable." - Rejan Rana
My biggest challenge was, definitely, trying to get faster and increasing my speed every year. It is very hard to do so, and it takes years of hard work and dedication to the sport.
Wanting to win and being successful drives my adrenaline crazy and I push myself to the limit to win.
My proudest moment was when I was sent to represent Yuen Long District in a Hong Kong-wide competition.
The Junior Forms have a lot of opportunities ahead of them. They should keep trying everyday if they want to be a better athlete than they were yesterday. Keep trying to achieve your goal. Working hard will definitely get you farther in life. And lastly , enjoy yourself.
