The StructureCraft team is a dedicated, skilled, and leading-edge group of in-house engineers, modelers, detailers, estimators, project managers, supervisors and carpenters. Our team hails from a variety of countries beyond Canada including United States, Italy, Norway, Scotland, India, Mexico, France, Holland, Australia, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, and Germany, and things can become fairly energetic around World Cup time. Our passion is creating beautiful, signature structures in the most efficient way possible.

StructureCraft is seeking 3D Designers / Drafters to join our design team to work on some of the largest mass timber projects across North America. Merit bonuses are given in profitable years, and are intended as a strong incentive to production, rewarding loyalty and contribution to the firm. As we both fabricate and erect our designs, designers and detailers plays a key role in our organization, acting as the hub of design information from the architect and our own engineering team, and translating that information into 3D models, layout and shop drawings, and CNC files used for fabrication on our shop floor and erection on site.

Job Requirements

We are looking for proactive and versatile team member(s) with a genuine interest in the many facets of our business to join our team. Candidates responsibilities will include the production of drawings and 3D models, sketching of design details, and coordination of each project design with both external design teams (Architect, Engineer) and internal project management / engineering teams. Working with our fabrication shop and site erection crews, you will ensure project designs are accurate, buildable, and erectable.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years detailing and 3D modelling experience (3D detailing experience is an asset)
  • Knowledge in all aspects of building structures and materials is expected
  • Ability to translate architectural and structural drawings and specifications into accurate drawings for fabrication and erection.
  • A working knowledge of industry codes, specifications, and standards is required.
  • Candidates must supply work examples and references.

We use hsbCAD (an AutoCAD plugin) for solids modelling/detailing our mass timber projects, and Rhino/Grasshopper for conceptualising complex geometry. Candidates would be expected to become fluent in the software packages we use (prior experience in AutoCAD structural drafting is a strong asset).

You'll be working out of our new 50,000sqft office and fabrication facilities in Abbotsford, BC. This state-of-the art timber facility is equipped with an automated production line for Dowel Laminated Timber, a 100% wood mass timber panel.
