Black Mountain Elementary School Preparing students for the global stage

Welcome To My Office

A principal’s job is filled with mountains of paperwork, emails, phone calls, and other administrative duties that it could easily them to their chair every day. Here is Mr. Owsley’s solution.

Another great event! Our kids and teachers did an amazing job of showcasing the learning that is happening across campus. I couldn’t be more proud!!!!
While this picture reminds us that it could be worse - why not make it better? Below are a few reminders as some of us have forgotten what to do and others have begun to show their creative sides.

If you pick up at the walk-up area, get to school around 3:20. This will help you not to get stuck in the car line.

If you use the car pick up area (by the Fine Arts Center):

  • Show up around 3:40. Showing up earlier than this does little but create a longer line and make it impossible for parents to use the walk up area (which would make the line shorter).
  • Pull all the way forward.
  • When heading south on 60th street, please use the far right turn lane to enter the parking lot. There are not two right turn lanes. This is the kind of creativity that police officers do not like.
Nominate a Teacher Today!!!

KTAR News will Pay Tribute 2 a Teacher with $1,000 each month. It is quick, easy, and can make a huge difference.

Brush off those dancing shoes and start practicing your dance moves!! The BMES Family Dance is coming up on February 8th, 2019. More details coming home soon. Whether you make it a date with your entire family or a special date for two, we hope to see you there!
Spirit Days
  • Feb 12th is Dress Like Mr. Owsley Day (can’t wait to see how kids think I dress and what my hairline looks like on 5 year olds)
  • Mar 20th is Hawaiian Day
TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR THE 3rd ANNUAL EVENING FOR THE ARTS! Each year our PTO oversees many efforts in order to raise the monies needed to support programs that would otherwise not be possible within the school budget. This special event is to ensure funding for our extremely successful Arts Program, specifically our Dance and Drama programs. Every student at Black Mountain Elementary school participates in both programs as well as; art, band, and music. We would like to invite you to support this important cause by purchasing your Event Tickets or by providing a Sponsorship and/or Donation for this special fundraising event.
