FROM THE EAST
Brothers, family, and friends
I just wanted to take a quick minute to thank everyone who has been coming to our lodge dinners and events. Every single one of you who take the time to come out and say hello, share a table with us, or even simply wave hello. My experience as a mason thus far has been absolutely outstanding. For all those who haven’t been able to make it please don’t feel bad. Life takes us in all different ways. For those of you who can’t regularly come I’d like to say we have not forgotten about you ! Please always feel welcome to your home here at Newport Mesa. I’d love to see and meet all of you.
Our degree nights seem to be attracting more sidelines. It’s so great to see so many brothers participating in such a special night. I highly encourage as many of you to come!!!
Some of you may be getting notices and reminders about dues payments. Some brethren have fallen in arrears but no worries we have set up our website (nm604.org) to take online payments. While it may feel like a pain to handle at times, please remember it’s a vital part of the running of the lodge. We are doing everything we can to make the lodge efficient and well maintained.
We had an awesome fun event... we went to a Ducks hockey game! It was one of our most attended events that I can recall. We all had an amazing time. Thank you to Bro Castellano for setting that up. We all had such a great time that we have decided that we will be going to another sports event this year. We will be finding a date to attend an Angels baseball game. Let’s get even more people to attend! Be on the look out for a communication from Bro Castellano on the date and the ticket pricing. Hope to see as many of you there as possible
March brought a very special event. Alyssa LeCours had her grand reception as Miss California Job’s Daughter. It was a packed house for her and rightfully deserved! This young lady has dedicated so much of her time to the lodge and Jobs Daughters Bethel. Please offer her a hearty congratulations if you see her!
We’re looking toward to another great month. A few degrees and education coming up. Please check our lodge calendar for more info .

FROM THE SOUTH
No dinner this month, see y'all in May.....just kidding ...April Fools ;) I'd like to thank everyone who either came out for the Raising a Reader Dinner or donated some money towards that endeavor. Masons engage in a variety of philanthropic efforts and this is one of the ones that I am most passionate about. This program has real value and is efficacious. I am proud that our lodge has been and will continue to be a consistent supporter of this program. We ended March with a 1st degree and a 2nd degree. Congratulations to Brother Nguyen on being initiated as an Entered Apprentice and congratulations to Brother Hendrickson on being passed to the degree of Fellow Craft! We are going to have another 1st degree in early April and I hope to see a lot of brothers on the sidelines. Masonry is like many other endeavors in life, what you reap will be directly correlated with what you sowed. Get involved, come to lodge, share time and space with your brothers and reap the rewards. If you are interested in participating in Book Club or our once a month Texas Hold'em games at lodge send me an email and I will add you to said email lists.
Also last month we had some minor technical issue and I was unable to deliver my presentation on Freemasonry and Obelisks, however those issue are cleared up and I am excited to spice up our stated meeting with this presentation. I am hoping to see many brothers on the sidelines, remember I promised that if you didn't either learn something new or find it to be interesting than I'll buy ya a beer ;)
There actually will be dinner served, it will be Chicken and Beef Kabobs with Basmati Rice and Pita Bread, dessert TBD.

Upcoming Degrees
April Education
Good morning, afternoon, evening, brother and friends!
Once again, we are continuing our education program at the Newport Mesa Masonic Lodge #604. For our fourth education it will be open to Entered Apprentice Masons and up and we hope to see everyone there! The lecture is called "Our Ritual as a Sacred Text" and it will be given by Worshipful Jordan Yelinek
In this workshop we are going to explore our ritual through traditional forms of sacred reading to unearth hidden wisdom in even the most mundane sentences. Using text from the proficiency of the Entered Apprentice degree, we will read the ritual with rigor, in a community dedicated to deeper understanding, using the Benedictine practice of lectio divina.
It will be perfect time to come and meet the brothers and hang out on a Saturday. If you ever have been interested in learning more about Masonry and its many different connections this is the lecture to attend. It is on the 13th of April and breakfast will be served at 9 am and the lecture will promptly start at 10 am. For this education we are suggesting a $7.00 donation that day off. This will cover the food and use of the building.
This should be a very exciting lecture, and I can’t wait to enjoy it so please come out and have a great breakfast and enjoy a great lecture.
