Servitude (esclavitud): the condition of being a slave

Equal protection of the law (proteccion mismo) (egal): states give the same rights, freedoms, and protections to all citizens.

Prohibition: the period of time from 1920 to 1933 in the U.S. when it was illegal to make or sell alcohol

Poll Tax (impuesto votacion) (vote taxe): a tax that each adult has to pay in order to vote in an election

Supremacy Clause (Cláusula de supremacía) (Clause de suprématie): It establishes the Constitution is the "supreme law of the land"

Criminal law (derecho penal) (Loi criminelle): a system of law concerned with the punishment of those who commit crimes

Civil Law (ley civil) (droit civil): the system of law concerned with private relations between members of a community

Administrative Law (ley administrativa) (loi administrative): the body of law that regulates the operation and procedures of government agencies

Constitutional Law (Ley constitucional)(Loi constitutionnelle): the combined record of all the ways in which the constitution has been used to enforce laws
