Considering the new challenges and interruptions that we have all faced in 2020, I am incredibly proud of all the amazing things the school has managed to achieve this year. It has been a huge team effort once again and I want to sincerely thank the community for their continued support, the team has certainly felt your aroha.
A huge thanks to our dedicated and committed Board who have continued to provide critical support to the team and students.
Our skilled and dedicated Leaders, Teachers, Language Assistants, Office Staff, Cleaners and Caretaker have once again gone beyond the call duty to support our learning community through their skills, effort and positive contributions during the year to ensure every child has a chance to enjoy their experiences at school or when they were learning from home.
For me at this time of the year, happiness and sadness tend to go hand in hand as we farewell and thank staff members who are departing for new adventures. Natalie Colville, Kristyl Cooke and Vicki Corner leave us after many years of outstanding service to the Chapel Downs community. Batmini Dass is transferring to Franklin School in Hamilton and Lisa Gordon is returning to Point View School. Sarah Reilly is retiring to Snells Beach. A huge thanks to them for the effort and expertise that they have dedicated to Chapel Downs School. They will all be sorely missed.
A huge thanks to everyone who attended last Friday's Service Awards and Year 6 Graduation. It was a wonderful opportunity to honour all our senior students who have served the Chapel Downs School Family throughout the year. We also presented our Year 6 students with a graduation certificate and wish them well as they embark on their next learning adventure at Intermediate School. Our 2020 Year 6 students have been outstanding school leaders and real role models for our students.
The Board is very pleased to announce that next year construction of two new classrooms will begin. These new rooms will help cater for our growing roll. A huge thanks to the Board of Trustees and our amazing team for their support and hard work throughout the year.
Have a fantastic holiday and we can’t wait to see everyone back on Tuesday 2nd February for Term One 2021.

Non Returning Students 2021
To assist us with planning, we would greatly appreciate knowing of any students who will not be returning to Chapel Downs School in 2021. Maybe you are moving out of the area. We ask as the number of students on our roll and at each level, directly affects staffing and class composition. If your child/ren is/are not returning, and you have not already advised us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Year 3 Swimming
This term our Year 3 children have completed six swimming lessons through the Community Swim programme A huge thanks to John Walker Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation for funding this amazing programme.
