The TNAQ January Invite was legendary. It was one for the books, filled with stunning performances from every SMAC athlete. Flashes of pink, black, and purple were everywhere, but mostly they were found out front, in still water, ahead of the pack.
By the numbers, this was the best meet in team history. A new Team Record for total seconds dropped in a single meet was set this weekend. SMACers accumulated hundreds of best times. There were many new cuts achieved. Twenty Four (24) New All Time Team Records. Race after race, the team was consistent in their effort, tenacity and attention to detail. The group relied heavily on their training, and it showed on Sunday evening as some athletes were still racing fast in their 14th - 17th event throught the weekend. The attention to detail in practice was evident as improvements in technique, race strategy and mechanics were on display. Everyone contributed. Team spirit and energy were on display as we made the deck at UT ours for the weekend. The team had an absolute blast, swam amazingly fast, and learned a lot, which is exactly what a SMAC meet is all about.
With one of the best meets in our nearly 20 year team history behind us, we'll be using this meet as a source of motivation and something to build on. 3 weeks until Age Group Champs, 4 weeks until Senior Champs. As we're approaching the Championship meet season, in order for our team to achieve it's goals, the group will continue to have it's eyes firmly set on the horizon. Now, on to the good stuff!
All around, fantastic work Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club! KEEP IT UP!
