This quote talks about how people get so caught up in their lives and take things for granted that they never realize the good things that happen to them. When something happens in a person's life, the person will usually look at the bad side of it and get distracted by their problem, but with every situation there is good side as well. The person needs to stop being caught up in their problems, stop taking things for granted and take in all the good things they have.
This quote explains that if someone ignores a blessing they receive it becomes a curse. This is because if they ignore a good thing that happens to them it comes back around to them and something bad happens. This is a little bit like karma. If somebody nice does a good thing for another person and the person doesn't acknowledge it or just ignores it, then the karma will come back around to them and bad things will happen because they ignored the nice gesture toward them.
In this quote, the crystal merchant is worried that if they build a display case that people will run into it but Santiago explains that is just the way life is. When he is in a field with his sheep and they come upon a snake one of the sheep is going to get bitten by the snake and there is no question. That is just what happens in life, things happen but we just have to look past it. So, if people run into the display and some crystal breaks, it's okay, that's the way life is.
This quote is telling that in our life if we have a goal, things will happen but and distract us but we will always be heading for the same thing no matter what may happen. It is like if you heading toward your goal was a road trip. Some roads may be closed and you have to take detours but you will still be going to the same destination, but it might take a little longer than you expected it to.
This quote is said by the alchemist to Santiago about when someone gives up on their Personal Legend. He is that when somebody gives up to early their goal is so close but they didn't make it. The soul of the world is testing people's abilities and if they don't pass they will just give up. So when some one is traveling in the desert, they will die of thirst but the palm trees will be appearing over the horizon.
This quote was said by King Melchizedek to Santiago that the world's greatest lie that our lives are controlled by fate. By saying that this is a lie he saying that this is a lie, it means that people can control their own fate. He is implying that at a point in someone's life they believe that fate will control their future but that is the lie. People don't realize that they control their future with their decisions and actions, they think that the world will do it for them and their future may be different than what they want it to be.
