First Quality Matters Certified Online Course at WCU!

We are pleased to announce that the online course ECE 502: Advanced Child Development: Prebirth – Age 8, taught by Dr. Cathy Prudhoe, has been Quality Matters (QM) certified having met standards related to best practices in online course design. This is the first course to be QM certified at West Chester University.

ECE 502 is a graduate-level course in which students review theories that address patterns of growth, development, and learning in children. Students examine emerging research in child development that focus on a variety of contexts (family, child care, neighborhood, culture) that influence individual development.

Congratulations to Dr. Cathy Prudhoe on this accomplishment and special thanks to Michelle Fisher, Senior Instructional Designer for Teacher Education, and Colleen Phillips, Course Review Manager/Instructional Designer, for their assistance with the course review process.

Note: Quality Matters (QM) is a nonprofit organization that offers nationally recognized benchmarks for online course and program design. It utilizes a peer review process to certify online/blended courses that meet QM course design standards.
