Driving down Rosewood, Mrs. Patterson on her way home to her family had been in a terrible accident, one that had costed her her life. Her son Steven was the most affected by this incident. Steven never listened to his mom, she would always tell him to stay humble, be smart, and not go into the woods. Steven did so anyways. Everything has changed for Steven and his father after this incident has happened. They decided to move away from Rosewood to a tiny city named Crystalbar across the country. Crystalbar is a city where things aren’t as nice as Rosewood. The buildings were old and the streetlights were either dim or broken. Steven is a very outgoing person who always seeks for adventure. Fitting in will not be a problem for him even though it is a new environment and he is going to have to meet different new people.
Settling in Crystalbar, school registration has started and Steven is ready to go to school. The first week of school has passed, Steven observed that kids in Crystalbar are different from Rosewood. Steven wears nicer clothes and has nicer stuff than the other kids at school. Friday after school when Steven is walking home, a group of kids come up to him and asks questions about him since he is new at the school. Steven explained to them what had happened to his mother and that was the reason his family moved to Crystalbar. The kids were mainly jealous of the stuff that Steven has. So they invited Steven to hangout that night around midnight. Steven wanted to make friends so he said yes to the invite.
Midnight approaches as the kids throw pebbles at Steven’s window signaling him to sneak out. Steven quietly hopped out his window onto the roof and jumps down to the ground. The kids greeted Steven and he greeted back. They walked towards a Cul De Sac and at the end of it they saw a fence. The kids dared Steven to go hop the fence and run through the woods and meet them at the other side. There was no other side.The clouds lowered and the air got misty Steven decided to hops the fence. The group of kids waved and said “ See you on the other side”.

The time was 4 am, Steven saw a street lamp as he makes a right turn out of the maze and jumps the gate back onto the Cul De Sac side. He yells for his friends group “ Hey guys where are you?” but there is no answer because they are all safe and sound asleep. Steven walked home and climbed back onto his roof and through the window into his room. He took his clothes off and went in bed and stared at the ceiling above him. A pebble is thrown at Stevens window and he gets up to look out the window expecting it to be the group of friends, but it was his mother he sees.
