Megan's Literacy History

My mom taught me to read

Earliest literacy memory:

The first book I could read alone was "A Fly Went By." I read it nonstop for a month.

In elementary school I went to the library once a week. The Bookmobile came to my school once a month. I LOVED checking out books.

In 3rd grade, we started the accelerated reading program. It eventually made me hate reading.

My kindergarten teacher Mr. Simpkins, my first grade teacher Miss Daniel, and my mom all taught me how to write.

When my older brother came home from school with handwriting homework, I used to follow along with him.

Writing is one of my weaknesses

I learned cursive in 2nd grade and loved to practice. In 5th grade I spent days perfecting my signature.

Writing does not come easy for me. I typically get good grades on essays, but I have to work hard for those grades.
