Events

We are excited to host a variety of events throughout this important week for you!

Tell them you care

Whiteboard Campaign: "How do you tell your friends that you care?"

Tuesday's whiteboard campaign is a great opportunity for you to show your friends that you care about them! Write down how you support your friends 💬

Ask gently

Conversation Starter Clothing Line and free Mio Gelato!

Stop by the Queen's Centre where we will be having our first clothing sale of the year! Our Conversation Starter Clothing Line sale runs from 9am-4:30pm. Additionally, there will be FREE Mio Gelato 🍨

Ask gently

TALKS Rally

A special night aimed at creating a safe and comfortable space for people to share intimate stories. There will be guest speakers and then we will open the floor to anyone else who would like to share something personal. We aim to create a space where people feel welcome and supported while they are being vulnerable, therefore, everything said in the room will be kept confidential. There will also be yummy food and drinks!

Listen attentively

Mural: Building your "Puzzle of Support"

We will be making a big mural! On this, students write down what they need to feel supported on a puzzle piece and stick it onto the mural in the corresponding spot. Over the course of the day, a Puzzle of Support will be created that highlights all of the components that one needs to feel supported 🧩

Know your resources

Whiteboard Campaign: "I go to __ when I need support"

Our second whiteboard campaign is the perfect opportunity to recognize one of your supporters. You will leave this event having given a photo shoutout to someone that has supported you in your life 💛

Know your resources

Community Potluck

Through this event, we hope to provide students with the opportunity to meet new people and facilitate community building. Get ready to meet some new friends and enjoy lots of delicious food!

Stay in touch

Postcard & Letter Making

For our final event of TALKS Week, which is centered around "Stay in Touch", students can come by and write a postcard or letter to someone that they miss and would like to stay in touch with! Once the letters and postcards are written, we will be mailing them out on behalf of students 💌

Our Goal

The aim of the Peer Support Centre (PSC) TALKS campaign is to spread the word that you don’t have to be an expert to help a friend. Each fall, the PSC holds this week-long campaign to encourage members of the Queen’s community to support each other in times of need.
