The Tortolita Mountains are located in suburban Tucson, Arizona, straddling the communities of Oro Valley and Marana. With 29 miles of trails at elevations ranging from 2,800 to 4,300 feet, the highest peak in the range is is 4,696 feet. The area was home to the Hohokam people from 500 C.E. until approximately 1200 C.E.
We happened to arrive during a particularly abundant wildflower season and spent five days hiking as many miles of the trail system as we could.
