During the 30s the Great Depression begain.

The dust bowl started during the 1930s and that made farming very difficult. Farm prices and income reach bottom.

General unemployment rate in the United States was over 25 percent; at the same time, unemployment rates for various American minorities ranged up to 50 percent or more.

Family during the 1930s struggled. Marriages declined and so much more happened.

People had to make their own fun by putting things together.

Everything was homemade – the food, the games, the music – there were even homemade portable dance floor

Neighbors got together to play cards and other games and to talk. Church socials and school programs gave people a chance to visit and maybe meet someone new.
