Political/International Relations with "We Didn't Start the Fire":

Berlin: The city is separated into West and East Berlin and the wall is erected to separate from East Germany. This happened in the 1960's. It was included in the song bc it was a big event that separated a city into basically two countries. It is connected to today bc the wall came down a few years ago in the 70's. It was added into the video bc of how long it stood and no one really opposed it and how it came down recently.

The Berlin Wall (painted on the western side) was a barrier that divided the city from 1961 to 1989.

U-2: An American U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union and caused the U-2 Crisis of 1960. Francis Gary Powers who was performing a photographic aerial reconnaissance was shot down by S-75 Dvina (SA-2 Guideline) surface-to-air missile. It strained the relation between USSR even further. It was an important event that later got films after it.

H-Bomb: The United States is in the middle of developing the hydrogen bomb as a nuclear weapon. It was going to be one of the first hydrogen bombs ever created. Connects to today by every country trying for a "grand gesture" to war. It was first tested in late 1952.
