-Overthrowing the Czar and Why - Czar had failed to solve Russia basic political economic and social problem. From the fear of being overthrow czar had created a secret police and other enforcers to impose his will. The corrupted bureaucracy and an overburdened court system added to the government problems. Marxists tried to ignite revolution among the proletariat.

How the Revolution Effects WWI - The Russian Revolution had the effect of putting an end to the major arena of fighting on the Eastern Front in World War I. It temporarily helped the Germans by freeing up troops, but this advantage did not do the Germans much good. Therefore, the revolution did not really end up making much of a difference in the outcome of the war.

-Lenin and Bolsheviks/Bolshevik Takeover- Lenin was born with the name Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov and adopted the name Lenin when he became revolutionary. A Bolshevik is a member of the majority faction of the Russian Social Democratic Party, which was renamed the Communist Party after seizing power in the October Revolution of 1917. The Bolshevik led by lenin launched a nearly bloodless against Russia's Government.The bolshevik took over government buildings and within 2 days formed a government with lenin as the head.


-Opposing Forces in the Civil War - For three years, civil war raged between the “Reds” as the communists were known, and the counterrevolution “Whites”. The “White” armies were made up of tsarist imperial officers, Mensheviks, democrats, and others all of whom were united only by their desire to defeat the Bolsheviks.

-Communists and War - The communist used terror to control their own people, not just whites. The organized a secret police force much like the tsar’s which was known as the Cheka. The Cheka executed ordinary citizens, even if they were only suspected of taking action against the revolution. The Communist also set up a network of forced-labor camps in 1919-which grew under Stalin into the dreaded Gulag. War Communism was a policy adopted by the Communist.

Armed Forces

-New Government Under Communism -Lenin's communist government united much of the old russian empire into the union of soviet socialist republics USSR, or Soviet Union. The communist produced a constitution that seemed both democratic and socialist. All political powers resources and means of production would belong to worker and peasants. The communist did not believe in these theroy. They believed that Russia would dominate the other republics.

-Lenin’s New Economic Policy (NEP) - Lenin’s New Economic Policy (NEP) - (1921) Lenin’s New Economic Policy is a policy proposed by Vladimir Lenin. This policy was meant to be a progression towards "state capitalism. Free trade markets were also an attempt to get people motivated in production increase. The policy represented a more capitalist-oriented economic policy and primarily promoted a new agriculture. Lenin’s NEP economic reforms was an attempt to allow the economy to become more independent.

-Stalin Taking Over - The death of Lenin lead to the struggle among communist leaders. Trotsky won of the contenders for communist leaders who believed to urge support for a worldwide revolution against capitalism. Stalin was another contender for a communist leader who believed in a more cautious, he wanted to concentrate on building socialism at home first. Trotsky fled the country after being stripped from party membership. Stalin had murdered Trotsky in 1940 and his ruthless measures won him the dictatorial power.
