News from the North House News & Reflections from the Middle School

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” --Thornton Wilder

Our middle school students completed what Montessori described as the "third-period lesson" on Thursday evening through a dramatic presentation of their learning about the 20th-century American history.

Rather than performing pre-written plays, our students often write their own, completing all necessary research and preparation to make it a success.

Some students served as stage managers, others as master technicians, some were assistant directors, while others attended to box office duties. Shilpa acted as Lead Assistant Director and helped took charge to help "block" each scene and carefully plan the transitions.

It was a wonderful learning and community experience as we near the end of the year and as many 8th level students prepare to say farewell. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the performance and to all that shifted "taxi" schedules around to make our days at Barlow Community Center possible.
