How to Build a Bridge By: Morgan frankenhoff

Materials: Popsicle Sticks, Elmer's Glue, Rubber Bands, Box or Foam.

Step 1: Place 8 popsicle sticks end to end. Then place one popsicle stick between 2 popsicle sticks on the line of sticks you just placed. All together there should be 15 sticks. Add glue all over one side of the sticks that will go between the sticks on top. Place those sticks on top and let the glue dry.

Step 2: Place 5 popsicle sticks end to end. You will be repeating the last step but with less popsicle sticks. Place one popsicle stick between 2 sticks on top of the line of sticks you just lined up. Cover one side of the popsicle sticks that will be placed between the 2 sticks. Then place that stick on top of the two sticks and let dry.

Step 3: Place 2 popsicles sticks end to end. Then place 2 sticks on top of the sticks you just placed together. Cover one side of the two sticks that will be placed on top. Then place the sticks covered in glue across the 2 sticks in between them. Let that dry.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 so you will have 2 lines of sticks both containing 4 sticks. All together you will have used 8 sticks.

Step 5: The pieces you made in step 4 will be the vertical side of the bridge side but it will be tilted slightly. Add glue to the ends of the pieces you just made. On the top you will place the smaller line of sticks made in step 2. At the bottom will be the line of sticks made in step 1.

Step 6: Place 2 sticks end to end. Then place one popsicle on top in between the sticks you just placed. Cover on side of that stick will glue and place it. Then let it dry.

Step 7: Repeat step 6, 5 times to create 5 lines of 3 sticks.

Step 8: Place the pieces you made in step 7 inside the 4 sided shape you made before. The pieces should be vertical and spaced out evenly.

Step 9: Do the same thing you did in step 6, 8 times. These pieces will be used to make X's.

Step 10: Between each line of vertical sticks that were placed in step 8 you will make X's. There should be 4 X's. You'll also want to add glue in the middle of the X's to add more stability.

Step 11: Repeat steps 1-10 to create another side of the bridge identical to the one you just made. After this step you should have two sides of the bridge.

Step 12: Between the two sides you need to place foam or a box.

Step 13: Then connect the two sides with rubber bands. This will hold the two sides together as you make the top and the bottom, you will take the rubber bands off later.

Step 14: On the top you will make a zig zag formation using 9 sticks. You should place 2 sticks in a V shape and repeat that 4 times. Then across each V shape you should place one stick to give the bridge more support.

Step 15: Repeat step 14 on the bottom and use 6 V shapes, also add sticks across like before.

Step 16: Now you can remove the foam and the rubber bands and the bridge is now finished.
