Halloween Haunts & Happenings in Downtown Jonesborough

Jonesborough’s Halloween Haunts and Happenings is an annual event that has been taking place for over 40 years and provides fun for the whole family. From 6-9 pm on Friday, October 25, Downtown Jonesborough will be filled with tiny tots and even furry friends dressed in costumes of all sorts. Treat stops, activities, games, music and more will take place the whole day and the schedule of contests and additional activities can be found below.

Halloween Costume Contest

The Costume Contest is returning this year and will take place starting at 7:30 pm on the Food City Stage in front of the Courthouse. Prizes and gift certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the following age groups: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9, 10-17, 18 & up and Group Category.

Spooky Pooch Palooza

The Spooky Pooch Palooza is also a new addition this year and starts at 6 pm in front of the Courthouse. Bring your pups down for treats, costume contest, photo booth and even paw reading! The costume contest will be offered for large dogs and small dogs and prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Funniest, Scariest, Most Creative, Best Dog/Owner Combo and Best Dog Pair/Team.

Brews and Boos is happening Saturday October 26th in Storytelling Park. Gates open at 7pm. Live music 7-8 pm. Ghost stories start at 8pm.

Haunted Flashlight Egg Hunt

The Flashlight Haunted Egg Hunt is also a new activity offered to children 10 and up starting at 8:30 pm in Jimmy Neil Smith Park, behind the Storytelling Center. Bring a flashlight and search the park for hidden black and orange eggs filled with candy. You might bump in to some spooky characters along the way, so be on the lookout!

Parking Information

This year, parking will also be available at the Jonesborough Elementary School with a shuttle to the Jonesborough Visitors Center. Parking is $5 per car with free shuttle rides all evening . It is highly recommended that you utilize this option as parking will be very limited in the downtown area.
