Dota Asia Championship 2017 The prestigious Dota 2 tournament returns again this April with a prize pool of $500,000 USD.

Qualifiers have finished for DAC 2017 and the 12 competing teams have been determined.

Among the direct invitations for this year's tournament are Boston Major winners OG, the Chinese powerhouse Newbee, TI6 Champions Wings Gaming, and the North American superstars Evil Geniuses.

The tournaments format allowed four Chinese teams to qualify through closed qualifiers.

Invictus Gaming re-formed last summer and are led by Xu "BurNIng" Zhilei. The legendary Chinese carry has been out of the scene for some time and is making his return in a big way.
LGD.Forever Young qualified with a relatively unknown team. North American Dota fans will recognize solo middle Xie "Super" Junhao from TI5 playing for Vici Gaming.
Team VG.J is the team founded and owned by basketball star Jeremy Lin. Although they are a new team they certainly are not short on experience. Their lineup includes carry player Agressif, veteran rOtk, and support duo fy and Fenrir.
IG.Vitality finds themselves attending the same tournament as their brother team Invictus Gaming. Watch out for carry player Paparazi who is currently atop the Chinese MMR leaderboard with 9208 points (as of March 24, 2017).

North America, South East Asia, Europe and the CIS region all had 1 spot to fill.

Team NP from North America captained by Jacky "EternalEnVy" Mao managed to qualify ahead of compLexity and onYx.
Faceless were favourites to qualify in the SEA region and did so without breaking to much of a sweat. Fan favourites iceiceice and black^ will be glad to return to a premier tournament.
Team Liquid from Europe, famous for having three players with over 9000 MMR points (Miracle, MATUMBAMAN, gh-god) will be joining the other 11 teams in Shanghai early this April.
Team Empire from Russia rounds out the 12 teams heading to China. Somewhat of a surprise addition to the tournament, be on the lookout for solo mid player fn, who will no doubt need to play his best for these underdogs to make it far into the tournament.
