Ux to UI Scratcher by Mark praties

First things first! who would be using my mobile app? Well thats easy! AS its a mobile app for student accomodation that question has been answered for you. Below are a few examples of personnel who would most likely benefit from the use of this app.

Using my personnas and card sorting techniques i have managed to get a rough layout of what i would need to create an easy to use and friendly interface for my mobile application.

Using my card sorting, it was now time to move on and sketch up a paper prototype. This will give me an outlined example of how my final prototype will function and work. I will try and develop something that is both asthetically appealing and easy for the user to get around the interface.

After finishing my paper prototype i had two people test the functuality of the app for me. They come back with very positive reviews in that it was easy to understand and navigate which is what i was looking for. A few issues were pointed out in which they felt may make it that little bit easier to use and these will be taken into consideration for my final design.

Now that i have a rough understanding of how my app will function and look i'm going to mock up a few wireframes to get a better understanding of how the final layout is going to come together.

It is now time to work on my visual style. One app i have always enjoyed using not only because i love to eat plenty of food! but also for its visual style and easy to use functuality is just eat. It has a simple, easy to use interface and a simple yet elegant design. Theres never too much going on in any individual page and has a simple colour scheme which i find works really well. i am going to take some inspiration from this design but make sure i apply my own visual technique and style to my final solution to the brief. next up is to create moodboards and style tyles to give myself some ideas to take foreward into the later stages of the design process.

After deciding on my final concept and look in which i wanted to take forward, i then went ahead with final planning and construction of the application. I am very pleased with the final outcome both in its looks and functuality. I believe i have created an app that not only looks professional but is wholly functional in the purpose that it is meant to serve.

Below is a link to the interactive prototype i have created. This was achieved using invision.
