My name is Melisa Avila and I am fifteen years old and I currently attend HeLa High school. Though I have only been here for a couple of months I must say this school has taught me so much. From how to be a better person to how to be more responsible. I live in Vancouver Washington with my mom, dad and two sisters. Spending time with my family is really important to me and I think I need to do more time doing that. I signed up for photography class so I can learn how to become a good photographer. I knew it was more than taking a picture of a person or object and boy was I right. There is so much more to it! The different techniques and styles of art is so cool to learn about and most importantly, practice it. This class for sure taught me that. If I had the chance to go back and not do this class I would’t take it.I have always been creative. When I was little I would look at some D.I.Y’s to do and put my own little twist on. Now that I have grown up a little I figured I can also express my creativity through photos. Whatever I am feeling I can put that into photos. For example, whenever I am feeling sad or down I like taking pictures in black and white because that just feels how my world is. The biggest thing that influenced my life would have to be my parents. My dads brother passed away and as soon as he thought he couldn’t go on with his own life he had to tell himself that it was going to be okay and to carry on. He is my inspiration cause he really could have gave up but he did not.
