The Layers of Earth By: Emma Newell

Earth's crust can be deeper in the mountains area. But the crust is not that deep in the flat area part of the earth.
The Mantle is the largest of the geological layers that make up the Earth.
The Outer Core of earth is the earth's third layer. It is the only layer that has liquid water in it. It is made up of iron and nickel and other substances.
The Inner Core of earth can also be called innermost section. Also this section is believed that it is as hot as sun's surface.
Continenal Crust is the layer of granitic, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks which form the continents and the areas of shallow seabed close to their shores.
The Oceanic Crust is relatively thin part of the earth's crust that underlies the ocean basins. It is geologically young compared with the continental crust and consists of basaltic rock overlain by sediments.
Lithosphere is the rigid outer part of the earth, consisting of the crust and upper mantle.
Asthenospere is the the upper layer of the earth's mantle, below the lithosphere, in which there is relatively low resistance to plastic flow and convection is thought to occur.
Convection currents in the magma drive plate tectonics. Heat generated from the radioactive decay of elements deep in the interior of the Earth creates magma (molten rock) in the aesthenosphere.
Polar ice caps are dome-shaped sheets of ice found near the North and South Poles. They form because high-latitude polar regions receive less heat from the Sun than other areas on Earth. ... The polar ice caps contain the majority of Earth's supply of freshwater.
