Confess...when it counts! A LEnten Devotion for March 25, 2017

Saturdays in Lent are for outings or activities that give us one last angle on the baptismal theme of the week.

Today, in the spirit of confessing Jesus, I invite you to watch a movie about people who did that…to the very end.

A movie that reveals what it means to confess Jesus are “Romero” about the life and martyrdom of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. See trailer below.

Another option is “The Mission” starring Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro. “The Mission” recounts the involvement of the Roman Catholic Church in the South American slave trade and the Jesuit priests who tried to protect the natives. WARNING: The Mission does include tribal nudity, if you’re uncomfortable with that kind of thing.

A third option is Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu, but his life's work was inspired directly by Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

Today…watch a movie. These are only 3 options. Feel free to try something else.
