Kiwi can live for between 25 and 50 years

There are about 68,000 kiwi left

The biggest threat to kiwi chicks is stoats, and to adult kiwi it's dogs.

Cats also kill kiwi chicks, and ferrets frequently kill adult kiwi.

There are amazing groups here in the Bay of Plenty who are working on keeping our Kiwi's safe

The female lays only one egg which is nearly 20% the size of itself.

Kiwi birds prefer to eat worms, grubs, seeds, and small invertebrates.

As a flightless bird Kiwi's need our protection
