Featured Project of the Week

Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs have caught the attention of many school districts and educators. Seniors Lindsey Gasper and Jensen Smith started a project to research the possibility of getting a therapy dog at Lisbon Schools. They've visited area schools who have therapy dogs and have talked to Tory Topping of Stone Hollow Dog Training in Cascade, Iowa. The next step is sharing their findings with the administration and getting district-wide approval.

Meet Champ. Champ is the therapy dog at the Monticello Community School District.

Aimee Hospodarsky, the school counselor at Monticello Elementary Schools, provides a great home for Champ. Hospodarsky shared with us that the children love writing to Champ and especially like receiving his responses!

We also met Joy who is the therapy dog at Washington Elementary School in Mount Vernon. Gina Becthold teaches third grade and is Joy's owner.

Project Updates

21st Century Learning Spaces

Education is evolving and Lisbon INC is excited to be a part of that movement. As Lisbon INC started this year, some of the conversations focused on making our space more creative and engaging for students. With the help of Secondary Principal Mr. Becker, INCers are getting first hand experience researching, brainstorming, and planning what a new "21st Century Learning Space" would look like at Lisbon. The past week we met with space designers to get some insight. "Having a space like this would be a great way to bring new families into our community and school," commented junior Clay McCoy. Pictured below is senior Jensen Smith getting ideas from product catalogs.
