December Diary Dates Worsbrough Common Primary School

Dear Parent/Carers,

I hope you are all well, as we know December is a very busy month for everyone and I thought it was worthwhile recommunicating key events that are coming up.

Whole School

  • Attendance Matters Month- Starts Wednesday 1st December

Want to win a tablet for Christmas! Attend everyday in December and you get the chance to win 1 of 4 Amazon Fire tablets up for grabs!

  • Wednesday 1st December - Christingle Service

As we have done in previous years we will be holding our Christingle service in school. This is a very special time and we have put in measures to ensure that we can continue with while reducing risk for COVID. EYFS, KS1 and KS2 will do this service at different times and each service will be streamed across Facebook live so that parents and families at home can still join in the event.

  • Friday 10th December- Rudolph Run Raising funds for Barnsley Hospice

Each child taking part will receive a pair of antlers and their very own red nose. One lucky adult will also be provided with a Santa suit! Last year, children from 16 Barnsley schools and nurseries, and one football team, raised an amazing £20,000 and lots of smiles as on their Rudolph Runs!

  • Friday 10th December- Dan Jarvis Visit for School Council

For the first time in many years Dan Jarvis will visit our school. We hope he is prepared for a grilling from our School council. We also give him a guided tour and raise the issue of litter on our school boundary.

  • Tuesday 14th December- Sponsored Singalong

The plan is to have children singing uninterrupted for 6 whole hours! We will be doing Facebook lives throughout the day. This is a sponsored event and the funds will be going to Cash for Kids. The school who raises the most money also wins a cash prize. Sponsor forms have been sent out and donations can be made through this link

  • Wednesday 15th December- Christmas Dinner & Christmas Jumper Day

Children can come to school in Christmas jumpers and enjoy a homecooked Christmas dinner. Please note that no alternative meal will be provided on this day. School are paying for all children to have a Christmas dinner.

  • Friday 17th December Christmas Party Day- Children can come dressed in party clothes.

Children can come to school dressed in their party clothes ready to celebrate with their friends. Lunch will be party food, there will be no alternative available.

  • Friday 17th December- LAST DAY OF TERM

EYFS – Nursery Class 1 and Class 2

  • Thursday 2nd December- EYFS Little City Visit

Safe and warm in the school building children will be immersed in their own Little City. Children will get the chance to act out being real ‘grown ups’ where nothing is off limits. They can be a hairdresser, mechanic, chef and much more. This opportunity will enable children to learn all about different occupations in the world and how each person’s job is important in lots of different ways. Payment of £3 to be made through Arbor, trips.

  • Thursday 9th December- FS2 Panto visit Class 1 and 2

It’s that time of year again (...oh no it isn’t!) to think about Christmas and a good, old fashioned pantomime full of family fun. This year, the celebrated Barnsley Lamproom Theatre panto takes us on the journey of one man and his cat – the folklore tale of Dick Whittington and his purrr-fect feline friend. Payments of £12 to be made through Arbor, trips.

  • Tuesday 14th December – EYFS Dough Disco Parent Event- CANCELLED

Please join us for a festive edition of dough disco where you will learn how we help children develop their finger muscles to enable them to become good writers. This session will also introduce parents to ‘Squiggle While You Wiggle’ which introduces children to letter formation in a fun way! Parent sessions must be booked via Arbor to ensure there are enough resources to go round.

  • Wednesday 15th December – EYFS Christmas Carol Concert NOW VIRTUAL

Parents of EYFS children are invited into school to watch our Christmas Carol Concert. The perfect event to get you into the Christmas spirit. Tickets are limited to 2 per family and can be purchased through parent donations on Arbor for £1 each, please write on your donation that this money is for the EYFS Christmas Concert. Anyone only requiring one ticket, please either call into the school office or order via emailing admin@wcpsedu.org any pay by cash.

  • Thursday 16th December – Nursery visit from Santa’s Elves

Santa’s Elves are coming to town! We have arranged for a very special visit from Santa’s elves who are bringing party games and prizes for Nursery children. As Santa is very busy this year they will be taking children’s letters with them back to the North Pole. Nursery children can come to school in their party clothes. Payment of £7.50 for this special visit should be made on Arbor, trips.

Year 1- Class 3 and 4

CIRP will be joining in with all whole school events as well as going to the Panto with their home year group.
