LaAmistad At Peachtree March 16, 2017

Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Its been a cold, chilly wet week and old man winter was not done with us. I do hope he realizes that spring is suppose to come in next Tuesday. Thank you for your warmth and love that you have wrapped around our children here at Peachtree.

Thank you for being so flexible for Thursday S.T.E.A.M day. Our kids thrive and look forward to these special days. I love seeing the collaboration, hearing the language and seeing them explore and discover different ways to problem solve.

Please take the opportunity to capture your class in pictures when possible.

Thank you to Ms. Ellen for sharing these snapshots from third grade.

Weekly Resources

Word of the Week

Demonstrate

Meaning: show something by giving examples of it. Can be used instead of: show, exhibit, prove, evidence

Study Skill

Proofread Your Writing Aloud

How to incorporate the study skill:

Read your work out loud. Proofreading means examining your text carefully to find and correct mistakes. It can help you catch things that you have written that may not sound right until you actually read it aloud. Give yourself some time.

Read your work backward, starting with the last sentence and work your way in reverse order to the beginning.

Always proofread a printed version of your work. Check spelling in the dictionary and or have someone check your writing for errors.

Virtue

Responsibilty

What is Responsibility?

Being responsible means that others can depend on you. You are willing to be accountable for your actions. When things go wrong and you make a mistake, you make amends instead of excuses.

When you are responsible, you keep agreements. You give your best to any job. Responsibility is the ability to respond to ably. It s a sign of growing up.

Affirmation

"I am responsible. I give my best to all that I do and keep my agreements. I learn from my mistakes. I am willing to make amends."

Thank-You
On a personal note...

I would like to thank each of you for your outpouring of love, support and prayers for my mother who was hospitalized earlier this week and is now recovering here in Atlanta. I will keep you posted as she recovers. Thank you for your words of encouragement and support.

Blessings and Hugs,

Vera
