Dear Roadrunner Families,
Fall Parent Conferences the week of October 11-15. It's that time of year where parents and teachers have the opportunity to meet and discuss student strengths and areas to work on. We will offer in-person and Zoom appointments, so look for communication from your children's teachers on available dates and times and respond as soon as possible. If you are unable to make an appointment during this designated week, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher and make an appointment that works for your schedules. We know that strong partnerships between home and school lead to student success.
Please visit our district website at www.ccusd93.org for more information!
As always, we appreciate you for choosing Desert Willow as your learning community

District Quarter 1 Benchmark testing will take place in grades 3-6 the week of Oct. 4-8. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate each child's mastery of the standards taught in Quarter 1. The results are used for making instructional decisions, whether skills were mastered and need to be reinforced or need to be retaught. Please know the results will not be counted as a grade.

Roadrunners are Respectful, Responsible, & Kind
This month, our school wide theme is empathy. We’ll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect the same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.
You can extend this idea at home by talking about your own feelings and modeling empathy for others.
