Del Dotta Vineyard, St Helena, CA*

Although the Del Dotto story begins on our Rutherford Estate, it has expanded to include seven other specially selected sites.

Currently, it consists of 437 acres with 121 acres planted with varietals including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sangiovese. It took 18 years to find the ideal sites to cultivate each individually selected grape clone and to maximize the terroir flavors in the wine. Each vineyard is organically farmed, with no sprays or chemical fertilizers in use, and all weeding performed by hand. The plants are meticulously tended by professional vineyard workers in order to maintain the quality of crop that has built the Del Dotto reputation.

Board the train as soon as it arrives at the station, where you will be served a freshly prepared lunch from our on board kitchen. Marvel at the beautiful western side of the Napa Valley through the expansive picture windows of our dining car, then move to one of our restored 1915 Pullman lounge cars for dessert, coffee and cocktails. Then transfer to a luxury motorcoach and visit both Charles Krug Winery and Raymond Vineyards in the afternoon. A leisurely half hour ride south on the rest of the scenic Silverado Trail takes guests back to the Wine Train Station.

In the spirit of traditional rail seating, you will share a table with another party on our winery tours. All of our winery tours require moderate stair climbing and standing for extended periods. REDD reflects the passions of a serious chef who, after 15 years in some of the best kitchens in the United States and Europe, has found the perfect balance of serious food and unpretentious ambiance. "With Redd, I've created the type of restaurant that I like to spend time at--an inviting place that serves creative food and thoughtfully chosen wines in a relaxed, but elegant, contemporary space." Drawing from his classic French and Mediterranean sensibilities, chef Reddington has created a cuisine that combines flavors and textures that match well with local wines. REDD’S menu showcases regionally inspired seasonal selections with ethnic influences. A daily 5 course chef’s tasting menu is also available in addition to the regular menu.
